Kalamazoo College Fund Year in Review

The Day of Gracious Giving 2024 was a far-out success thanks to the incredible generosity of 1,314 alumni, parents, family and friends. Through a series of groovy matches and challenges, supporters came together to raise $564,430 in vital funds for scholarships and financial aid, faculty resources and the College’s highest priorities. Maya Hester ’25

The K-Plan provided me with opportunities for experiential learning in places I never would have dreamed of going before. Without K’s emphasis on and accessibility to study abroad, I don’t know if I would have participated—yet, it was one of my most transformative experiences. I got to fully integrate myself into a new community that broadened my horizons and taught me invaluable lessons I could not have learned elsewhere. In Spain, I learned independence, adaptability and how to navigate diverse cultures.

Place-based learning, like the HILL program (Humanities Integrated Locational Learning) in New Orleans, brought classroom lessons to life and inspired my Senior Integrated Project.

At Kalamazoo College, participating in the K-Plan has been a transformative experience for me. The K-Plan allows me to engage in hands-on learning experiences such as internships, research projects and study abroad that have truly strengthened my character overall. Kalamazoo College’s commitment to community engagement and social justice allows me the opportunity to engage with local communities. This opportunity broadens my perspectives, deepens my understanding of social issues, and inspires me to become an active member of change.

Without my scholarship and financial aid, attending K would not have been possible. I am so beyond grateful because Kalamazoo College was a dream school of mine, and I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to attend.
